Jamaica
Jamaica was my starting point, the place where my story began and where I remained until my late twenties. It was there that I learned the earliest lessons of survival and resilience, and it was there that I first caught glimpses of what could be possible beyond poverty. While living in Jamaica, I was offered the opportunity to work with Microsoft, a role that took me across the island and opened doors to travel abroad. That period was a defining chapter—proof that even from difficult beginnings, one could reach new heights. I was committed to making a difference in my country, even as I began to step onto a broader stage. Jamaica will always remain the foundation of my journey, the place where I took my first steps toward breaking out of poverty.

Canada
Canada became the next stage in my path forward. Moving there meant facing the challenges that so many newcomers know well—building a life from scratch without credit, without history, and often without a clear map of what comes next. I remember the long winters vividly, shoveling snow from my driveway in tears, determined not to let the cold or the weight of starting over defeat me. Yet Canada also gave me opportunities that helped solidify my progress. I returned to school, strengthened my education, and eventually earned Canadian citizenship. Each step forward in Canada represented perseverance and growth, pushing me to keep climbing no matter how steep the hill.

United States
The United States marked another reset in my life. Moving from Canada meant starting over once again, including building a new credit history from scratch. But with each challenge came opportunity, and over time I began to settle into a sense of stability. This new chapter allowed me to deepen my career, put down stronger roots, and eventually achieve U.S. citizenship after five years. The United States became more than just another destination—it became a place where my long journey of survival, sacrifice, and perseverance could finally begin to take on the shape of lasting success.

Destruction Unfolding
Life has not been without its storms—both literal and figurative. In Jamaica, I witnessed the devastation that hurricanes brought, with homes destroyed and families left to rebuild from almost nothing. Our own house in Gore Tuca was damaged, a reminder of how fragile security can be when nature decides otherwise. Later, while living in the United States, disaster struck again when a pipe burst in our home, flooding the ground floor and causing major damage. Thankfully, insurance helped cover most of the repairs, but the experience carried the same truth I had learned back in Jamaica: destruction can happen in an instant, and rebuilding demands patience, strength, and faith.

Feeling Special
Over the years, I have been blessed with tokens of appreciation and gestures of gratitude from people whose lives I have touched. These items, simple as they may be, carry deep meaning. They remind me that the work I have done and the effort I have given has not gone unnoticed. Feeling special is not about material possessions—it is about knowing that your presence, your actions, and your journey have had an impact on others. Each gift, each thank-you, is a reflection of connection, and a reminder that the road I have walked has value beyond my own story.

Food for the Soul
Food has always been a gateway to comfort, joy, and even identity. I have never been the most adventurous eater—I can be picky at times—but I have always appreciated the meals that speak to the soul. Whether it is the simple dishes that remind me of home or the foods I have learned to enjoy along the way, eating has been both necessity and pleasure. A guy has to eat, after all, and for me food is more than sustenance. It is a collection of memories, flavors, and traditions that have followed me across countries and through stages of life, offering a little piece of comfort at every stop along the way.

Tools used to achieve success
Along the journey out of poverty, tools and gadgets became essential companions that helped me take each step forward. From my earliest days, computers, laptops, printers, and scanners were more than just machines—they were gateways. They allowed me to study, prepare for certifications, build resumes, and communicate with opportunities beyond my immediate environment. A simple laptop became the bridge between where I was and where I wanted to be, opening access to knowledge and connections that once felt out of reach. Printers and scanners made it possible to document progress, submit applications, and manage the details of life that demanded order and professionalism. Each device represented not only functionality, but also possibility. They were the practical tools that supported discipline, organization, and learning, and together they made success attainable. These gadgets may seem ordinary, but for me, they were extraordinary—they were part of the foundation that helped transform survival into growth.

Aging over the years
A collection of photos through the years tells the story of a life unfolding in stages. From childhood through adulthood, and now into a more mature season, the passage of time has left its mark. Aging is a reminder not only of where I have been, but of how far I have come. It allows me to see the changes etched into my face and frame, each one carrying a story of struggle, growth, and achievement. These images are not just about years passing—they are about a journey out of poverty, a testament that time has been a companion to both hardship and success.

Medical Miracles
One of the most defining moments of my life came with a serious medical crisis. I underwent surgery to remove a tumor from my head, a moment that shook me to the core. At the time, I truly thought it might be the end for me. Facing the uncertainty of whether I would wake up, or what life might look like afterward, was terrifying. Yet I came through. The operation was successful, and I lived to tell the tale. That experience reminded me how fragile life can be, but also how miraculous survival is. To walk away from that moment was to be given another chance, a gift I do not take lightly.
